Response to appeal for volunteers
Response to appeal for volunteers
Unfortunately so far no one has come forward to offer any of their time as a volunteer therefore we are left with the same dwindling band who are willing to undertake some duties.
May we ask you to consider again the detail below by helping out even for two or three hours per week which would be of immense help.
As you know we depend on volunteers to carry out many administrative functions within the club, to act as starters in the Bothy and to process and control competition results. Bearing in mind the new WHS system,we do try to publish the results on the same day as the competition to allow members to have their WHS handicap updated overnight. This does involve processing for example 80 cards on a Saturday throughout the day and quite often 30 cards may not have been processed by the end of play due to the timing of players coming in.
Whilst the Bothy can be quite quiet at times, there are busy times as well depending on which shift is being covered.
We are fortunate to have several members who act as starters but the number we can call on is dwindling to the extent that we are increasingly unable to man the Bothy as often as members would like.
We feel it is essential to have Bothy cover as often a possible to create a good club feeling for existing and new members. A very short period of training would get someone up to speed with the systems and it is not to be feared in the slightest.
The club loses money on a regular basis where people walk on to the course without paying because there is no one in the Bothy. Despite there being notices showing how to pay green fees in the absence of a starter, many members with guests and visitors just walk on without paying what is a very reasonable green fee.
