Captains Roar

Captains Roar
Well its that time of year again when the Summer tees get put into hibernation and the nett scores move into the 50's.Yes Winter is upon us. I feel I have been remiss in not keeping the members up to date as previous Captains such as Kenny Mackinnon have so eloquently done. So in an effort to redeem myself I bombard you with all updates in one fell swoop below.

2017 has been an eventful year for the club on a number of fronts, so bare with me this update is lengthy and I'm sure some of you will be nodding off into your cups of tea by the end.

Headliners are as follows:-

Clubhouse Tarting Up
After running a questionnaire regarding the proposal to change the colour of the exterior of the clubhouse from what can only be described as poo brown to either a Navy Blue or Royal Green the volunteers were out in force to fulfill the will of the people and a lovely Royal Blue accented by a bright grey render was quickly draped over the building to give the old girl a well needed facelift.
Ladies and Gents Cloakrooms
Likewise the tired cloakrooms were updated and the systems changed out to give the members and visitors a far better seating or standing experience.

Golf Buggys
Some of the buggys had become tired and have gone to buggy heaven. These have been replaced with a nice shiny blue petrol buggy which has proven popular.

Extension to 16th Tee
Planning has finally been granted for the small hummock we have created which will allow the 16th tee to be extended giving the option to transform the current par 3 into a short par 4, if desired. Construction works will progress throughout the off season.

Music Festival
The festival was again a great success and listening to the members comments from last year we managed to squeeze in a Texas scramble before the festival on a glorious sunny Saturday. The event was well attended and again the Red Pine Timber Company did us proud. Requests have already come flooding in to repeat the event for next year.

Fireworks Night
Another great extravaganza was witnessed and seamlessly delivered by Stuart Robertson, Terry O'Connor, Dave Fleming and Hugh McMaster. Pauline fed the masses and all enjoyed.

Scratch League
Alan Urquhart steered a strong team to the finals on the Queens Course at Gleneagles but unfortunately a slightly stronger Blairgowrie team pipped them on the day. Without a doubt the highlight of the event was Dave Logie's hole in one on the par 4 ,15th. A sweeter drive you will never see.

Winter League
Winter League is upon us and already our Winter offer is proving to be popular with over 30 visitors joining us for the off season. It is hoped that once they taste the banter and sample the greens we can persuade them to stay next year. Assistance by every member to be welcoming will be much appreciated and hopefully cancel out the sarcastic abuse lovingly brandished by our very own starter Bonny.

2018 Fees
The accounts of the club have become slightly more healthy due to the Herculean efforts by so many members, as a result it has been decided by the Committee that the fees for next year be held.
In addition should any member who chooses to renew their membership by paying their fees before the 31st January they will be rewarded by the issuance of an exemption card allowing 7 visitors to play FOC. As Kenny Scotland does not have seven friends to call on, these can be used throughout the season.
The locker fees will remain as 2017 also.
To conclude the club is on the up but with a little bit of effort from all the members it could be doing so much better. Your continued support is hugely appreciated.
Yours sincerely
